Donna Collins Lewis

Donna Collins-Lewis is no stranger to serving the citizens of her hometown Baton Rouge, Louisiana. As a boots on the ground operative, Donna has used her skills, influence, and passion to assist in platforms reaching from affordable housing and infrastructure improvement, to blight elimination and justice reform, considerably impacting the growth and quality of life for East Baton Rouge Parish constituents.
Transparency is important to both, her personal and business life; as her campaign for Clerk of Court is running on “leadership you can trust.” Mrs. Collins-Lewis understands the efficacy of a transparent government, as she adamantly advocated for a “citizen friendly” city government throughout her 12-year term, as a Councilwoman for District 6. During her tenure, she was often referred to, by her colleagues as, “a voice of reason,” and known for crossing over the aisle to achieve the greater good.
Immediately following the outbreak of Covid-19, Donna assisted homeless individuals and homeless families both, locate and secure housing. Donna’s community outreach and involvement includes positions once held as, Board Chair of CATS, Board Chair of the EBR Council on Aging, Board Member of Visit Baton Rouge, and a Member of the Baton Rouge Planning Commission. She is currently serving as a BREC Commissioner, as well as, a Member of The Bridge Center for Hope, while still making time to serve in the capacity of Assistant Facilitator of Life Groups at Belfair Church, where she is a member.

Some of candidate Donna’s accomplishments include her Love Heals Free Clinic, where over 4,000 people, most of whom do not have insurance, obtained free dental, vision, and medical care. For three years, this clinic has been serving citizens in Baton Rouge and surrounding parishes. Currently, Mrs. Collins-Lewis is responsible for managing a total of over, 3,000 rental assistance cases to date, resulting in approximately $14 million dollars of assistance for the citizens of East Baton Rouge Parish, through the U.S. Department of Treasury’s National Emergency Rental Assistance Program. Mrs. Donna Collins-Lewis also volunteers her personal time with many community service projects across the city. Her passion to serve comes from her mother; a single parent who raised four
children, on a meager income while walking to work at night, just to make ends meet.
Donna is married to Clifford S. Lewis, her greatest cheerleader, encourager and
